SHIVAJI MAHARAJ Complete Biography
In the region now known as Oudh, the ancient princes of the royal Sesodia family ruled for centuries. They traced their roots to the mythical Solar Race, part of the Kshatriya genealogy in India. One Sesodia prince crossed the Narbada River and established an independent principality on its southern banks.
However, the glory of the Sesodia family began to fade in front of the rising fame of the Shalivan, who heralded a new Hindu era still prevalent south of the Narbada. The Bhonsle prince was defeated, and his kingdom was taken away. In this turmoil, the distraught queen of the prince fled with her young son, who was about five or six years old, crossing the Narbada for safety in the rugged terrains of Mewar near the Vindhya Mountains. There, she sought refuge in a humble Brahman family, while her son looked after their cattle.
Shivaji Maharaj passed away on April 3, 1680, at Raigad Fort. His legacy lives on, celebrated across India, where he is cherished as one of the greatest warrior-kings in Indian history. His life story continues to inspire generations.
