Soon, the shopkeeper, intrigued by the bright umbrella, grows envious and tries to persuade Binya to sell it to him, insisting, “This is a fancy umbrella which small girls should not have.” However, Binya stands firm in her decision and refuses to part with it.
As time goes on, Ram’s envy eventually spirals into an obsession. He hires a young boy named Rajaram from a nearby village to assist him in the shop. When Rajaram discovers Ram’s longing for the umbrella, he attempts to steal it but gets caught in the act. In a twist of events, Rajaram reveals Ram’s name, leading to the shop being boycotted by the villagers. Remorseful and unhappy, Ram finds himself in despair. Meanwhile, Binya realizes that her flaunting of the blue umbrella has caused Ram’s troubles. In a heartwarming conclusion, Binya selflessly decides to give the umbrella to Ram, who in turn surprises her with a bear claw pendant.
