A citizen must surrender their ration card to the DSO of their area to obtain a surrender certificate, which is essential for a new ration card application. Once you receive the surrender certificate from the DSO, you must submit it to the DSO in your new area when applying for a new ration card. If you’re in a rural area, the process is done via the GPO.

If you no longer qualify for a specific ration card category, it is advisable to cancel or surrender your digital ration card. Additionally, if a family member passes away, it is also recommended to cancel their digital ration card. The state government has simplified the process of canceling your ration card online through its official website.

Ration Card Surrender Form – Reason to Surrender

• A family owns a house with 3 or more rooms built of concrete walls and roofs.
• The family possesses at least one of the following items:
  • Four-wheeler Motorized Car
  • AC Machine
• They have a computer or laptop with internet access.
• The family owns any 3 of the following consumer goods:
  • Refrigerator
  • Landline Telephone
  • Washing Machine
  • Two-wheeler Motorized Vehicle
• Any family member is a Gazetted or non-Gazetted employee of State/Central/Government Undertaking/Government Aided/Statutory/Autonomous bodies.
• Any family member pays Income Tax or Professional Tax.
• No Deprivation.
• Death of a family member.

How to Surrender Ration Card Online

1. First, visit the official website of the West Bengal Food and Supplies Department.
2. Select the ration card option from the left side of the screen.
3. Click on the “Apply Online” option and choose “Surrender/Cancel existing ration card (Form 7)“.
4. A new page will open.
5. If you’re applying from a mobile device, click on “Services and Citizens corner,” then select “digital ration card related services.”
6. Click on “Surrender / Cancel Existing Ration Card“ and a new page will appear.
