Nanakshahi Calendar 2022 - Summary
The Nanakshahi calendar is a tropical solar calendar used in Sikhism. It is based on the “Barah Maha” (Twelve Months), a composition composed by the Sikh gurus reflecting the changes in nature conveyed in the twelve-month cycle of the year. The year begins with the month of Chet, with 1 Chet corresponding to 14 March.
The Nanakshahi Calendar was developed by a Canadian Sikh, Pal Singh Purewal, a retired computer engineer. He started work on the calendar in the 1960s. ਇਸ ਕੈਲੰਡਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਲਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਹੀਰਾ ਜੰਤਰੀ ਕੈਲੰਡਰ ਵਿੱਚ 5 ਮਹੀਨੇ 31 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ 7 ਮਹੀਨੇ 30 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕੈਲੰਡਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।
