The financial support for travel expenses is referred to as leave travel concession (LTC) or leave travel allowance (LTA), and both terms are used interchangeably, indicating the same benefit.
LTC is a part of your total cost to company (CTC) and constitutes a portion of the salary provided by an employer to their employee. Though it forms part of your overall salary, you will receive this money only when you file a claim for travel made within India. It is important to note that not all travel expenses are covered under this allowance. Outlays for journeys made by rail, road, or air qualify for LTC, but expenses for food, accommodation, taxis, autos, and other costs incurred during your travels are not included.
Details to Mention in the LTC Form
- Name of the Officers
- Post Held
- Date of appointment in the present service
- Basic pay of the official/officer
- Approximate fare required for the journey
- Period during which L.T.C. is proposed to be availed (in case of self, please indicate whether leave has been sanctioned).
- Block of year for which L.T.C. is proposed to be availed
- And any other details.
You can submit your claim for LTC to your company based on a valid trip taken during the approved leave. Your claim must be supported by travel proof. Remember, LTC can only be claimed for journeys you actually undertake. For instance, if you purchase tickets for traveling from Delhi to Mumbai but do not complete the journey to Mumbai, you will not be able to claim your LTC.
