Jharkhand Unlock 5.0 Guidelines - Summary
A day after the Central government issued guidelines for Unlock 5, the Jharkhand government has allowed places of worship to open outside containment zones in the state from October 8. This decision is significant for devotees looking to resume their spiritual practices.
Durga Puja Guidelines in Jharkhand
The State government has declared that Durga Puja will be permitted this year only at homes, temples, and small pandals, with no public participation allowed. Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh explained that these relaxations for opening places of worship were announced in light of the upcoming festive season.
However, aside from these measures, no other relaxations were mentioned in the ‘Unlock 5’ notification, which will remain effective until October 31. The government has set limits on the height of idols at Durga Puja pandals to 4 feet. Additionally, no lighting or extravagant decorations will be allowed at these locations, as highlighted in the order.
The order also specifies that the public will not be permitted to visit or engage in community puja pandals, which should be kept small in size. Separate guidelines will be released for conducting rituals during this period.
