Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay ordered the president of the WB Board of Primary Education, Manik Bhattacharya, and the Secretary to appear before the CBI.

In his ruling, Justice Gangopadhyay labeled the second panel, often referred to as the Additional Panel by the Secretary, as illegal, stating it appointed candidates through dubious means. He instructed that the salaries of these teachers be halted and that they should be barred from entering their workplaces.

Petitioners argued that the 269 candidates received extra marks due to an incorrect question in TET, impacting around 23 lakh aspirants. Furthermore, Justice Gangopadhyay has called for the CBI to investigate at least ten more cases of alleged irregularities in hiring teaching and non-teaching staff by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in state-run schools.

The judge emphasized the interference of certain powerful groups, mentioning that local police might not be capable of conducting an impartial investigation into corruption cases.
