Varahi Devi Ashtothram - Summary
The Varahi Devi Ashtothram is a powerful hymn that praises Goddess Varahi, who is depicted with a boar’s head. Known for her strong presence, Varahi plays a vital role alongside the Saptha Matrukas (Brahmi, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Maheswari, Indrani, Varahi, and Narasimhi) in defeating the demons Shumba and Nishumbha, as mentioned in the renowned text “Devi Mahatmyam.” Many devotees believe that she embodies the feminine energy of Lord Varaha, an incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu, and some even regard her as his consort, worshipped especially by Vaishnavites.
