On 30 August 2019, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that Syndicate Bank would be merged with Canara Bank w.e.f from 1st April 2020. The account opening form is in fact a request form addressed to the Manager of a bank branch for the opening of a particular type of account.
