Surah Fath
Al-Fath is the 48th chapter (surah) of the Qur’an with 29 verses (ayat). The surah was revealed in Madinah in the sixth year of the Hijrah, on the occasion of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah between the Muslim-city-state of Madinah and Makkan polytheists. It mentions this victory, then criticizes the attitudes of the hypocrites, continues with further promises to the Muslims, and ends by mentioning certain important virtues of the Muslim community.
The chapter gets its name from the opening verse, which states “Indeed, We have granted you a clear triumph” in direct reference to the Treaty which was signed through cooperation between the opposing forces and without bloodshed. The reason this treaty, and therefore chapter, is called a “clear triumph” is largely believed to be because of its peaceful nature.
Surah Al Fath – Surah Fatah
It is derived from the words Inna fatah-na laka fat-han mubina of the very first verse. This is not only a name of the Surah but also its title in view of the subject matter, for it deals with the great victory that Allah granted to the Holy Prophet and the Muslims in the form of the Truce of Hudaibiyah.
Surah Fatah is the 48th chapter of the Quran. It was revealed in Medina after the Battle of Badr. The title of the surah comes from the word “Fatah” which means “victory”. The main theme of this surah is victory in war and the establishment of Islamic rule. In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate. Guide us to the straight path. The path of those whom You have favored, not of those who have incurred Your wrath or of those who have gone astray.
