PM Gatishakti Master Plan - Summary
Prime Minister launched the PM Gatishakti Master Plan, a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance multi-modal connectivity across India. This digital platform unites 16 Ministries, including Railways and Roadways, for integrated planning and coordinated execution of vital infrastructure projects. The multi-modal connectivity aims to provide seamless movement of people, goods, and services across different modes of transport. This will greatly facilitate last-mile connectivity and reduce travel time for everyone.
The Union Cabinet approved the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity to economic zones on 21st October 2021. This plan is a significant step forward in India’s ambitious goal of becoming a US $5 trillion economy.
Understanding PM GatiShakti Yojana
PM GatiShakti is built on six fundamental pillars that ensure its effectiveness:
1. Comprehensiveness: This plan encompasses all existing and planned initiatives from various ministries and departments within a single centralized portal. This transparency allows each department to see the activities of others, providing essential data for better planning and execution.
2. Prioritization: PM Gatishakti allows different departments to prioritize their projects efficiently through collaborative interactions.
3. Optimization: The National Master Plan helps ministries identify critical gaps in infrastructure planning. It aids in selecting the most efficient route for transporting goods, considering both time and cost.
4. Synchronization: Often, individual ministries operate separately, leading to delays. The PM GatiShakti initiative fosters synchronization among departments, promoting holistic coordination and timely project execution.
5. Analytical: This plan offers a comprehensive data repository with GIS-based spatial planning and advanced analytical tools that include over 200 layers. This enables better visibility for executing agencies.
