Salient Features of Mail/Express Trains Include:
Janta Meal: The rate of the Janta Meal remains unchanged at ✅ ₹ 20/-.
No A-la-carte Meals: To prevent overcharging, a-la-carte meals are not allowed for sale on Mail/Express trains. However, a-la-carte snack items like samosas and pakoras will still be available.
Snack Meal: Passengers can now enjoy more regional food varieties. The ‘Snack Meal,’ featuring regional items and flavours, is introduced at the rate of ✅ ₹ 50/-, with a portion size of ✅ 350 grams. The menu will be curated by IRCTC.
Biryani as a Meal: Biryani, a popular choice among passengers, will now be offered as a standard meal variety. IRCTC will provide three types of Biryani: Veg, Egg, and Chicken, at rates of ✅ ₹80/-, ₹90/-, and ₹110/- respectively.
Chicken Curry Introduced: Chicken Curry has been added as an option in the standard non-vegetarian meal, in addition to the existing standard non-vegetarian meal with egg curry and the vegetarian option. Now, there will be three categories of standard meals: Standard Vegetarian Meal, Standard Non-Vegetarian Meal (with 2 Egg Curry), and Standard Non-Vegetarian Meal (with Chicken Curry).
