- Your account can be closed only if you don’t have a negative account balance. Please submit your account closure form after clearing any pending dues.
- You need to ensure there are no securities in your demat account. You can either sell your holdings and withdraw your funds. You can also transfer your shares to another demat account by opting for ‘transferred to another account’. Locked-in shares, Government securities, and mutual funds can only be moved to a CDSL demat account that belongs to you.
- You can opt for the closure-cum-transfer only if you submit a signed hardcopy of the account closure form. You will have to send the CMR (Client Master Report) of the target demat account. The target account needs to be in the same order of name(s) as your Zerodha demat account. The CMR has to be in the form of a hardcopy with seal & signature for NSDL accounts. It can be digitally signed CMR by the DP for CDSL accounts.
