Time Period of Detention Under The National Security Act, 1980
A person can be held without charge for up to twelve months. A person might be detained for up to ten days without being informed of the allegations leveled against them. The individual may appeal to a high court executive board, but he or she will not be permitted to have a lawyer present during the trial.
