Amar Chitra Katha - Summary
Amar Chitra Katha PDF is an Indian publisher of graphic novels and comics. Most of them are based on religious legends and epics, historical figures and biographies, folktales, and cultural stories. The company was founded in 1967 by Anant Pai.
The comic series was started by Anant Pai in an attempt to teach Indian children about their cultural heritage. He was shocked that Indian students could answer questions on Greek and Roman mythology but were ignorant of their own history, mythology, and folklore. It so happened that a quiz contest aired on Doordarshan in February 1967, in which participants could easily answer questions pertaining to Greek mythology, but were unable to reply to the question “In the Ramayana, who was Rama’s mother?”

अमर चित्र कथा की मुख्य आधार होती थी लोक कथाएँ, इतिहास, पौराणिक कथाएँ, महान हस्तियों की जीवनियाँ, किवदंतियां, आदि। इनका लगभग 20 भारतीय और 10 विदेशी भाषाओ में अनुवाद हो चुका है। लगभग 3 दशको अमर चित्र कथा देश भर में छाई रही और अब भी इनकी प्रतियाँ प्रमुख पुस्तक की दुकानों पर मिल जायेंग। मई 2014 तक अमर चित्र कथा ने 465 शीर्षक (454 व्यक्तिगत मुद्दे और 11 विशेष अंक) जारी किए हैं। अमर चित्र कथा “3 इन वन” या “5 इन वन” के सेट के रूप में व्यक्तिगत कॉमिक्स का संग्रह भी जारी करती है।
