CIBIL Score is a three-digit numeric summary of your credit history. The score is derived using the credit history found in the CIBIL Report (also known as CIR i.e Credit Information Report). A CIR is an individual’s credit payment history across loan types and credit institutions over a period of time.
The Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL) is the most popular of the four credit information companies licensed by Reserve Bank of India. There are three other companies also licensed by the RBI to function as credit information companies. Though the CIBIL Score and the Credit Information Report (CIR) are most often used by banks and financial institutions to evaluate loan or credit card applications, they are increasingly also used by telecom operators.
How to CIBIL Report Download
- Visit the official website www.cibil.com to get the free credit score
- On the Home page of the website, you will see the “GET FREE CIBIL SCORE & REPORT” or if you already have a CIBIL Account then click on the login button.
- After clicking on that link a new window is open in which you have to enter the personal details like Email Id, Create Password, Name, ID Number, DOB, Pin Code, and Mobile number.
- Now you have created an ID on this website just log in and you can the CIBIL Score and you can also download the CIBIL report.
- Select the CIBIL score, choose the language and month, and click on the ‘Download’ button to download your CIBIL report
- Your Date of Birth (DDMMYYYY format) is the password of your CIBIL report
How to Maintain a Good Credit Score
- Always pay your dues on time as outstanding bills can negatively affect your credit score
- Maintain a healthy credit mix i.e. secured and unsecured loans (However, no lender will deny you a loan just because you do not have both types of credit accounts)
- Regularly track your credit report to avoid any inaccuracies
- You must keep your old accounts active as it helps banks assess your previous credit behaviour for long
