Central government employees are eligible for the monthly Rs 2,250 Children Education Allowance (CEA) per child but as per the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), this CEA Form PDF will go up when the Dearness Allowance (DA) on the revised pay structure goes up by 50 percent. According to the DoPT norms, a central government employee is eligible for the CEA for two children only and the CEA will go up by 25 percent automatically when the DA rises 50 percent of the revised pay structure.
However, in the case of a Divyang child, the CEA gets doubled at Rs 4,500 per month. Apart from CEA, a central government employee is eligible for a monthly hostel subsidy of Rs 6,750 as well.

The amount for reimbursement for Children Education Allowance will be Rs 2,250 per month per child. This amount of Rs 2,250 is fixed irrespective of the actual expenses incurred by the Government Servant.” The DoPT rules further say that in the case of a divyang child, the CEA shall be payable at double the normal rates of CEA prescribed at Rs 4,500 per month.

Important Points for CEA Form
- Children’s Education Allowance of Rs. 2250 per month is fixed per child irrespective of the actual expense incurred.
- A certificate issued by the Head of the Institution to the effect that the child concerned studied in the School for the period/year for which the claim has been preferred. When such a certificate can not be produced, a self-attested copy of the report card or fee receipt for the entire year can be submitted.
- In the case of a Hostel subsidy which is restricted to Rs. 6750 per month, a similar certificate will have to be produced along with the mentioned amount paid towards lodging and boarding paid. If such a certificate can not be obtained, a self-attested copy of the report card or fee receipt for the entire year can be submitted.
- Children of Central Government Employees who died in service will be entitled to Children Education Allowance till the period in which the employee concerned would have retired or the completion period of 12th Std by such children whichever is earlier.
